Motivational Posters: How they are used

July 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This blog discusses how persons requiring motivation can simple put a motivating poster on the wall as found in schools and offices and how motivational posters manage to make the difference.

I woke up one summer morning all depressed and wary. Summers are usually really hot here in Delhi. My room walls felt empty and the sunlight was sneaking in through the closed curtains. I opened the curtains a bit, the sun was strong and the leaves were drying out in the sun making them brown and depressing. Well, we can’t control how nature works, neither can we control our mood at times if its solemn, depressed or angry.

So what do we do to lighten ourselves when things are not looking as bright as they should be. What do we do to put things in perspective? A unique way of cheering things up and motivating ourselves is through posters. That’s what motivational posters are for. They contain catchy phrases and co-relating images in the background. They usually tell you to do what you want. Weather its mountain biking, bungee jumping, skiing etc. Using nature and adventure as common themes, motivational posters often encourage the spirit in you and paces up the things around you.

A motivational poster is usually designed to be put into schools and offices. Often in a motivational poster, a photograph, a title and a description are used. This kind of poster has been repeatedly parodies; for example, Despair. Inc. They may represent human emotions sarcastically!

One famous motivational poster features a kitten hanging from a tree branch along with the phrase “Hang in There, Baby!” A reference to the poster is The Onion’s 1999 “In the News” photograph titled “Inspirational Poster Kitten Falls To Death After 17 Years”.
